Olympic heroes head to Devon
Guests staying at a Devon B&B will be able to see some of Britain's Beijing Olympic heroes when they compete in the Devon leg of the Tour of Britain.
Olympic gold medallists Geraint Thomas and Bradley Wiggins, alongside Bronze medal winner Chris Newton and Tour De France rider Mark Cavendish will all speed into the county on September 9th.
Visitors will line the streets as the Tour of Britain snakes through Tiverton and South Molton before tackling the tough King of the Mountains incline at North Molton.
The stage, which is backed by Devon County Council, will then head onto Exmoor before reaching a frantic finish on the Devon coast at Burnham-on-Sea.
Councillor Margaret Rogers, executive member for environment at Devon County Council, told the Sidmouth Herald that "British cycling is on top of the world after an incredibly successful Olympics, so the Tour of Britain comes at the best possible time".
"The race is the perfect way to celebrate that success and it's an opportunity for people in Devon to see our Olympic champions up close and to cheer them on," she added.
Visitors can watch the tour while staying at a Devon B&B as well as experience two areas of outstanding national beauty including Exmoor National Park.
