Edinburgh B&B: Tourism advertising campaign provides boost to the city
A recent advertising campaign to show Edinburgh's many tourist attractions has proved hugely successfully and brought in millions of pounds in revenue to the city.
Tourism body Visit Scotland recently ran nine campaigns to encourage people to come to Edinburgh and stay at one of the city's many fantastic B&Bs.
This proved triumphant with research indicating that 340,000 extra visitors came to Edinburgh during the usually slow off-peak months which generated over £15 million in tourist revenue.
Sinead Guerin, regional director at Visit Scotland, told the Scotsman the various advertising campaigns have brought almost £60 million in total extra revenue to the Scottish capital.
"All of our campaigns are based on detailed research and an understanding of our visitors. We are working to increase the value of tourism to the city."
"An important way to do that is through seasonal campaigns that attract visitors outside the traditionally busy summer period," she added.
The Edinburgh Fringe Festival came to a close on the weekend and proved another major boost to the city's tourism and a great attraction for guests staying at an Edinburgh B&B.
