Edinburgh B&B: Hogmanay tickets go on sale in October

Guests staying at an Edinburgh B&B will soon be able to buy tickets for the city's iconic New Years Eve Hogmanay street party.

It has been announced that 10,000 early tickets for the event will be made available on October 3rd at a cost of £5.

Councillor Steve Cardownie, festival and events champion at City of Edinburgh Council, told BBC News that Hogmanay will be a "night of music, fireworks and electric atmosphere".

"We want our Hogmanay celebrations to continue to be best in the world," explained Mr Cardownie. "Not only do they put Edinburgh firmly on the world map, but they significantly boost Edinburgh's economy, last year generating over 29m for city businesses."

'We'll also be examining future Hogmanay events to see how we can make them even better," he added. "We're very aware that Edinburgh's Hogmanay has been copied by various cities, and we want to raise the bar yet again to ensure we continue to stand out from the crowd."

Families staying at an Edinburgh B&B will also be able to enjoy four days of events around Hogmanay including the Feet First outdoor spectacle on January 1st.
