Ambitious Cumbria tourism strategy unveiled
A new strategy has been launched in order to encourage more people to come to Cumbria and stay at its many fantastic B&Bs.
Cumbria Tourism chiefs have unveiled a new strategy designed to boost visitor numbers to the county, reports the Westmoreland Gazette.
The new ten-year plan was launched last Friday at Cumbria Tourism's annual meeting and is titled Making the Dream a Reality.
It outlines various ideas to encourage people to spend more money on food, attractions and also to stay in accommodation such as Cumbria B&Bs.
Officials believe that by following the strategy, visitor numbers to Cumbria could increase by around two million a year.
This could result in tourism revenue of between £1 to 1.5 billion being generated for the Cumbria economy.
Cumbria is one of the most visited destinations for tourists in the UK, including its incredible scenery such as the Lake District.
