Guests staying at a Blackpool B&B are being greeted to the resort by an illuminated gate which has returned after a ten-year absence.

This follows a £250,000 grant from the North West Development Agency to resurrect the gate which was demolished in 1998.

Standing 20 foot high, the gate is made of galvanised steel and features state-of-the-art lighting technology which can display patterns and even messages.

Michael Wilcock, head of Blackpool Illuminations, said to the Blackpool Gazette: "This is the most exciting permanent new addition for many years to the Illuminations."

"The arches use the latest state-of-the-art lighting technology to recreate the traditional arches which were fondly loved by everyone," he added.

This brightly coloured gate alongside the fantastic Illuminations will surely prove a genuine treat for people staying at a Blackpool B&B this holiday season.
