Blackpool B&B: Wordpool festival gets underway in the resort
Guests staying at a Blackpool B&B will be able to enjoy a week-long festival of literature and poetry which will get underway in the resort.
Wordpool 2008 commences today at Matcham Coury at the Grand Theatre with performances by poet Terry Caffrey and students from Anchorsholme Primary and Flyde College.
Crime author Kate Ellis is also due to give a meet and greet session at Bispham Library and there will be a concert by Four Play Jazz.
John Siddique, Blackpool's poet in residence, was last year asked to open the festival which meant that he got to meet the arts and library teams, alongside the people of Blackpool.
Mr Siddique explained that all these people "made me feel that Blackpool was a place with a deep desire to be more than its current tourist reputation".
"It was meeting people in the town which made me want to come back and be poet in residence, to look at who is really here and to find meaning and beauty within the streets and real lives that go on every day," he added.
This fantastic week of literary and artistic attractions will no doubt prove too good to miss for people staying at a Blackpool B&B.
