Adventurous guests staying at a Cornwall B&B this Halloween will be able to get a ghostly, spine-chilling treat in the county.

Visitors can come to Pendennis Castle near Falmouth from October 27th to November 2nd for a special ghost tour that has been created by English Heritage.

The excursion includes the Tudor kitchen, which is apparently haunted by old head chef Maude, and the network of underground tunnels with their spirit soldier standing on guard.

Jane Rowe, visitor's operations manager, explained to The Cornishman that "Pendennis Castle dates back over a tumultuous 460 years, incorporating a number of battles".

"As such, perhaps it's not surprising that it's thought to be home to at least eight different ghosts, including a lieutenant governor, scullery girl and head cook."

"All our haunted tales are based on sightings that have been reported time and again by different sources, and visitors are always eager to hear how they can be linked back to actual historical events and people," she added.

However, Ms Rowe reassured that the Haunted Halloween event emphasises "fun not fright" and so the activities are suitable for people of all ages and constitutions staying at a Cornwall B&B.
