A fantastic new competition went underway in Oxfordshire to see who is cooking the best Indian food for people staying at the county's B&Bs.

Organised by the Bangladeshi Community of Oxfordshire, the first ever curry chef championships featured eight selected chefs competing in a cook-off.

The eventual winner was Mr Arzoo Miah who runs Arzoo in Bicester and who cooked his signature dish of halibut lazziz accompanied by pineapple rice.

Mark Robert, head judge, told the Oxford Mail that he felt that standard was "very high" and stated that he would now like this quality of food to be transferred across Oxfordshire for the enjoyment of people staying at the county's B&Bs.

"There was a distinct difference in what we were served to what you usually get in the high street," explained Mr Roberts. "There was a lot of passion and you could see the chefs were really focused on that one dish."

"It is understandable the quality won't be as high when you have a menu of 40 or 50 dishes and are serving over 100 people, but it would be fantastic to see that kind of passion - and these really flavoursome dishes - in our restaurants," he added.
