Oxfordshire B&B: Teams to ensure safety during Fireworks night
People staying at an Oxfordshire B&B this November will be pleased to hear that teams will be on hand to ensure fireworks are used safely during bonfire night.
Environmental agents from the newly formed Oxfordshire Fireworks Partnerships will be out on the streets of the county to ensure that fireworks are being used responsibly.
Chief Supt Brendan O'Dowda, Oxfordshire commander, praised the scheme as an "excellent initiative" that will deal with problems occurring "when fireworks get into the wrong hands".
"When fireworks are used properly, they can provide a spectacular centre piece to an event," explained Mr O'Dowda. "When fireworks are used illegally, they can intimidate law-abiding members of the public and, above all, put people in danger."
"Anyone who flouts the law could end up with a prison sentence or a £5,000 fine and we intend to clamp-down on anyone who chooses to do this," he added.
This scheme will provide families staying at an Oxfordshire B&B with peace of mind that they can enjoy the spectacle of fireworks night without anyone getting hurt.
