Cumbria B&B: Contestants descend on the biggest liar championships
21st Nov 2008Guests staying at a Cumbria B&B yesterday were able test their fibbing skills as the world liar championships returned to the county.
Contestants travelled all over the Lake District to show off their skills in the annual Biggest Liar in the World tournament.
Participants in the contest had around five minutes to deliver the largest and most convincing fib possible without using props.
John 'Johnny Liar' Graham, a six-year winner of the contest, proved victorious last year with a tale of how he caught a cod with just a barrel of Jennings bitter.
Mr Graham commented: 'I've been taking part for 20 years now and still enjoy it as much as when I first started.'
'I love entertaining the crowd and have always told tall tales, so this comes as second nature really,' he added.
Its perhaps unsurprising that the chance to watch these supremely talented liars in action proved such as hit among people staying at a Cumbria B&B.
