Guests staying at an Edinburgh B&B will soon be able to experience a new exhibition which charts the life and work of one of the UK's greatest ever fashion icons, Jean Muir.

The designer passed away in 1995 from breast cancer and her widower Harry Leukert donated her entire work archive to National Museums Scotland in 2005.

Jean Muir: A Fashion Icon opens in January 2009 and features 30 of her dresses, alongside pattern pieces, fabric samples and hundreds of sketches and photographs.

Kristina Stankovski, the exhibitions curator, said: "We are thrilled to bring together this select exhibition from the unrivalled Jean Muir collection we hold here at National Museums Scotland."

"Through Jean Muir: A Fashion Icon, visitors will gain an insight into the ethos, craft and legacy of one of Britain's most celebrated fashion designers."

"Photographs of leading models such as Joanna Lumley wearing Jean Muir designs also feature in the display," she added.

The chance to view an exhibition marking the life of one of the UK's greatest fashion icons will surely prove too good to miss among people staying at an Edinburgh B&B.
