Art-loving guests staying at an Edinburgh B&B are now able to view an incredible new exhibition of one of the world's greatest living artists.

Running at the National Gallery in Edinburgh until January 4th, the exhibition will showcase the 45-year artistic career of German artist Gerhard Richter.

In excess of 60 works from Richter's back catalogue will go on show, including his black and white photos drawn from the pop art period.

John Leighton, director-general of the National Galleries of Scotland, described Richter to Reuters as "arguably the most important and influential contemporary artist alive today".

Keith Hartley, exhibition curator, said that Richter uses painting to "deal with contemporary issues" but can also do abstract work and "luscious, sensuous paintings".

"So he's got the whole gamut," explained Mr Hartley. "That's what I think has made him very popular, and also a sort of painter's painter, if you like."

The opportunity to view the work of this celebrated and critically admired artist will surely prove too good to miss among guests staying at an Edinburgh B&B.
