Oxfordshire B&B: Oxford tourism set for major boost
30th Mar 2009Oxfordshire B&B owners will be pleased to read that a tour operator in Oxford has given a glowing forecast about tourism prospects in the county.
David Strainge runs City Sightseeing Oxford in Osney Mead, which provides around 50 different open-top tours of Oxford's historic attractions.
Mr Strainge told the Oxford Mail that visitor numbers are expected to increase considerably "when we start getting busy" after the Easter period.
He also said the exchange rate currently being "in our favour" alongside a potentially good summer ahead weather-wise could motivate more people to visit from abroad.
"We are also hoping that with the difficult economy, less Brits will go abroad and they will go on day trips to Oxford, London and Bath and we will benefit that way," he added.
"I think Oxford will keep pulling people in, partly because we are so close to London, along with all the history which makes it a place that everyone knows."
This positive view of the future prospects of Oxfordshire's tourism industry will surely provide a real boost for B&B owners in the county.
