Cornwall B&B: Growing interest in Falmouth boat show
4th Jun 2009Visitors staying in a Cornwall B&B could choose to visit a boat show in Falmouth that starts next week and marks the first of its kind in the region for 20 years.
Nearly 20 different boats have signed up for the event so far, which is intended to promote the region's marine heritage and will run alongside the Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival on Events Square, reports falmouthpacket.co.uk.
Boats ranging from canoes through powerboats and yachts will be involved with the event, and the Pipes and Drums of the British Army Officer Training Corps will officially open proceedings.
John Langan, chairman of Cornwall Marine Network and boss of Challenger Marine, told the paper: "We are pleased to support and promote this initiative which can only help remind people of our wealth of Cornish marine businesses that we have in our county."
It has been two decades since Falmouth hosted a boat show, but the organisers are hopeful that it could become a regular annual fixture once again.
In addition to its boating heritage, people staying in a Cornwall B&B might also be interested to know that Cornwall is a popular UK surfing destination.
