Those staying in a Cornwall B&B might have visited the 'Pulpo' festival in Falmouth last weekend, which may be held again next year due to its success.

As a celebration of Cornish seafood, it took its name from the Spanish word for local octopus and took place at the town's Bowly and Provedore Deli and Cafe, where visitors could enjoy a selection of less common fish such as wrasse, ling and crab, reports the Falmouth Packet.

The intention was to draw attention to some of the seafood available in the area, as much of the region's fish menu can rival the Mediterranean.

David Pollard, Falmouth's town manager, told the paper: "Clearly the Pulpo festival had the wow factor and shows just what can be achieved with community involvement. Events do not get much better than this."

A crowd of several hundred people, many of whom may have been staying in a Cornwall B&B, visited the event.

In other news, Hibiscus Surf School recently held a surfing charity day on Fistral Beach.
