Those planning a stay in a Cumbria B&B this weekend (June 13th) might be interested to take part in a new ale trail around the Cumbrian town of Cockermouth.

The event has been set up to celebrate the involvement of Jennings Brewery as the main sponsor of Fell Gather, which acts as a showcase for local food and drink throughout Cumbria, reports the Whitehaven News.

People who collect eight stamps through buying a Jennings beer at any one of nearly 20 pubs in the region that are taking part in the scheme will be able to claim a free bottle at the Fell Gather event, while there will also be a competition offering the chance to become a brewer for a day.

Heather Allen, part of the organising team from Cumbria Farmer Network, told the paper: "The aim of Fell Gather is to explain and enjoy the food and drink that come from our local landscape and to celebrate all aspects of Lakeland farming."

In other regional news, people staying in a Cumbria B&B in the last few days might have attended a worm charming event, which the North-West Evening Mail reported was to take place at Barrow Park in Barrow.
