People planning a stay in a Cumbria B&B could choose to follow the advice of a new guide book that details notable food and drink across the county.

Christian Dymond spent 18 months travelling around the county sampling the best culinary treats that were on offer and the results have been published in his new book, which features over 300 entries and 350 photographs, reports the Times and Star.

As well as showcasing restaurants, cafes and speciality food venues, the guide also offers advice on the best cookery courses available in the region.

To add to that, relevant events such as food festivals and farmers' markets, as well as breweries and other local producers, also get their share of attention from the former television presenter.

Some of the smaller businesses mentioned in the guide include Cockermouth's Quince and Medlar, Bassenthwaite's Pheasant Inn and the George and Dragon in Clifton.

In other regional news, Cumbria B&B guests might be interested in a News and Star report that a range of businesses in Carlisle are calling for carnival events to be held in the city centre to attract more people.
