<title><![CDATA[Cornwall B&B: Classic Quarter marathon to raise money for charity]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[News of preparations for the 44-mile Classic Quarter marathon taking place between Lizard Point and Land's End in late June could interest people staying in a <a href="http://www.places2stay.co.uk/Bed-And-Breakfast/Cornwall/" target="_self">Cornwall B&amp;B</a> this month.<br/><br/>Ten relay teams and nearly 90 solo runners are already confirmed for the event that began three years ago as a way of raising money for Cornwall Hospice Care at St Julia's Hospice in Hayle, which provides care for patients with debilitating illnesses, reports the Western Morning News.<br/><br/>This year, groups are being invited to enter relay teams to the competition so that individuals will have less ground to cover across the course.<br/><br/>Fundraising manager Sarah Snell said: &quot;The event itself is not for the faint-hearted and takes a huge amount of training and effort to participate as well as a lot of hard work to raise the funds. <description><![CDATA[A group of businesses in Carlisle have called for the launch of a city carnival, in news that could interest <a href="http://www.places2stay.co.uk/Bed-And-Breakfast/Cumbria/" target="_self">Cumbria B&amp;B</a> guests, reports the News and Star.<br/><br/>The Botchergate Promotions Group comprises businesses Party Party, Terminal 1 and Lloyds Bar, all of which are based on the Golden Mile in Carlisle and are keen to encourage more people to visit the city centre.<br/><br/>They are eager to capitalise on a 23 per cent drop in crime in the area and have met with marketing experts, council officials and the police to think of ways to attract more people.<br/><br/>Chris Langhorn, managing director of the firms that run Terminal 1 and Party Party, told the paper: &quot;There is the bigger idea for a carnival on Botchergate with floats. <description><![CDATA[People staying in a <a href="http://www.places2stay.co.uk/Bed-And-Breakfast/Cumbria/" target="_self">Cumbria B&amp;B</a> last week may have caught sight of 90 people helping out in a charity house move in Maryport.<br/><br/>Xtreme 13 is a local body that arranges regular charity events to raise money for a wide range of organisations, with all activities centred around the number 13, reports the Times and Star.<br/><br/>The most recent event involved 90 people carrying the contents of a home in a 13km house move starting from Workington's Moorclose pub and raising money for the Pride of Cumbria Air Ambulance.<br/><br/>Events organised in recent years have included swimming 13 lochs, a biggest liar competition that got the support of 13 businesses and a project that involved raising money for 13 football strips for use in the Gambia.<br/><br/>Nearly &#163;13,000 has been raised over the years as a result of the various charitable events.<br/><br/><a href="http://www.places2stay.co.uk/Bed-And-Breakfast/Cumbria/" target="_self">Cumbria B&amp;B</a> guests may also have taken part in an Ale Trail that the Whitehaven News recently reported was due to be held in Cockermouth over the weekend.<br/><img alt="ADNFCR-1180-ID-19218172-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1180&itemid=19218172" />]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[Cornwall B&B: 'Pulpo' festival draws big crowd]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[Those staying in a <a href="http://www.places2stay.co.uk/Bed-And-Breakfast/Cornwall/" target="_self">Cornwall B&amp;B</a> might have visited the 'Pulpo' festival in Falmouth last weekend, which may be held again next year due to its success.<br/><br/>As a celebration of Cornish seafood, it took its name from the Spanish word for local octopus and took place at the town's Bowly and Provedore Deli and Cafe, where visitors could enjoy a selection of less common fish such as wrasse, ling and crab, reports the Falmouth Packet.<br/><br/>The intention was to draw attention to some of the seafood available in the area, as much of the region's fish menu can rival the Mediterranean.<br/><br/>David Pollard, Falmouth's town manager, told the paper: &quot;Clearly the Pulpo festival had the wow factor and shows just what can be achieved with community involvement.
